We’re very proud of our colleagues who have come together to support our local community and donate food and toiletries to Cannock & District Foodbank.
The initiative, sparked by a company-wide discussion about giving back to our community, saw team members contribute essential items to help those in need.
A meeting between our colleagues and our parent company, Westerleigh Group, before Christmas highlighted a shared desire to make a difference.
Posters were placed around our offices, mortuary facility, and staff common areas, encouraging donations of non-perishable food, hygiene products, and other everyday must-haves.
“The response was overwhelming, with donations pouring in over a short period,” said one of our customer service specialists Kerry Ludlow. “We are so grateful to everyone.
“Many of us are in a position where we can give something back, and we see firsthand how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting families.
“It’s heartbreaking to think some children rely on school breakfast clubs for their only meal of the day. By working together, we hope to make a real difference in our community.”
In total, we collected an impressive 116.55 kilograms of donations, including a variety of food and hygiene products.
Alan Collins, who is a volunteer at the food bank and grandfather of Alice Holloway one of our senior customer service specialists, helped coordinate the collection and transport of the items where they will provide much-needed support to families facing financial hardship.
Ade Mallen, a mortuary staff member and local priest, played a key role in advising us on the specific needs of the community.
He highlighted the importance of practical donations, such as ring-pull cans, as some families have no access to basic kitchen tools like can openers.
Building on the success of this initiative, we are already planning our next charitable effort – an Easter-themed collection drive.
The initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the local community, and we plan to continue organising regular donation drives throughout the year.
