Their customer service staff are excellent. I had a dedicated member of staff, Sarah Miller, who went over and beyond to reassure me. Everything was carried out with incredible efficiency and support. I had a bad experience with another direct cremation undertakers and appreciate so much the faultless care and support Distinct Cremation gave me.
Virginia O'reilly, on Trustpilot 21 Feb 2025
The services both Christopher and I received was outstanding from the time we made the call when my aunt passed away. Throughout the time and to the point when my aunt came home even thre driver was so sincere. Thank you.

We cannot praise this company enough. We were liaising with Steven, he was professional, kind and totally empathised with us. He contacted us on a few occasions before the cremation to check everything was ok but more importantly were we ok. The cremation went very well, it was simple but very tasteful and everything went as planned. The lady in charge of our cremation was again very professional, kind and caring. We wholeheartedly recommend this company. Thank you all.
Gemma Chambers, on Trustpilot 19 Feb 2025
I cannot thank the team at distinct cremations enough. From the first phone call they were so helpful, kind and compassionate. They kept in touch throughout the whole process from start to finish. We had my dad hand delivered to us yesterday and a phone call today to see how everything went. I would highly recommend distinct cremations over and over again. Everyone that I dealt with on the phone were so caring and really put me at ease at the worst time. From the cost to the whole package from start to finish. They dealt with the whole thing in such a compassionate, professional manor unlike other companies I had been in contact with.

Tracy Hughes, on Google 18 Feb 2025
Distinct Cremations were very kind, compassionate and empathetic when I called recently to tell them my Aunt had passed away. My Aunt had already arranged and paid for an unattended Cremation with Distinct Cremations. Maxine was very helpful and caring whilst going through the order of everything and all the legal requirements needed. I was very reassured that my Aunt was well cared for and was treated with no less dignity and respect than had she chosen an attended funeral. Arrangements were made to bring my Aunts ashes back to me a week after her cremation and they were delivered very efficiently and with care by Chelsea who was lovely. I highly recommend Distinct Cremations, their service is outstanding. ReplyLike

After a death, knowing what to do when someone dies, the steps you'll need to take, and the order in which to take them, can feel daunting. To help break the process down of what to do, below is a step-by-step process and a few further resources that may help.

A medical professional will need to confirm the death as soon as possible. They will be able to answer any questions you may have. Once this has been done, and the cause of death is clear, you will be handed a medical certificate of cause of death and you can contact our team to make the appropriate funeral arrangements.

In the case of an unexpected death or if the death is suspicious, the deceased may need to enter the care of a coroner first who'll investigate the cause of death. Funeral arrangements can still be arranged, but the funeral will likely be delayed. Once the coroner's inquiry is over, they will issue a Cremation 6 form

Contact the registry office to register the death within 5 days in England and Wales and within 8 days in Scotland. This is a legal requirement and allows funeral proceedings to take place. An appointment will be needed and you'll be required to take certain documents such as your loved one's passport and birth certificate with you. If the death was expected, the registry office will issue a Death certificate and Green form.

You'll need to complete a Cremation 1 form or a burial form before a funeral can take place. A medical professional will need to complete the Cremation 10 form. If the death was referred to a coroner this will be a Cremation 6 form. Our expert team at Distinct Cremations will be able to help with this. Once these are complete, they are submitted to the crematoria.

Once the paperwork has been approved by a medical professional, the cremation can take place.
